Aboriginal Advisor

The Advisor works with the student services team to ensure Indigenous students are provided with holistic and culturally appropriate services that help them achieve their education and career goals. The Advisor helps students set educational goals and encourages student to develop self-planning and networking college and community resources. In all the Advisor will support the College’s goal of recruiting, retaining and empowering Aboriginal students to succeed.

Student Navigator

The Student Navigator works closely with student services and community partners to promote the success of Indigenous learners. The Navigator involves elders and community partners to engage students to participate and thrive in the college community. The Navigator builds relationships with students to support their success at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, and also with high school students to facilitate their transition to post-secondary education. In all, the Navigator is actively engaged in supporting the aspirations and needs of Indigenous learners.

Cultural Advisor

Meet Darlene McIntosh, the Cultural Advisor at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Prince George and respected elder of Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. Darlene provides holistic support, encouragement and guidance to Indigenous students, staff and faculty and promotes understanding of Indigenous culture, values and protocols.

Darlene engages the college community to participate in cultural events and shares her teachings in classrooms. Darlene welcomes elders from many communities to share their wisdom and insight with the college community and help create an inclusive environment for Indigenous students.

Darlene is available to provide assistance in cultural or ceremonial programming for ²ÝÁñÉçÇø events. You can contact her at arcelder@cnc.bc.ca.

The Aboriginal Resource Centre (ARC) provides information and support before and after you become a ²ÝÁñÉçÇø student that will help you achieve your educational goals. We strive to provide culturally safe services and facilities to Aboriginal students, such as:

  • Academic advising and career planning
  • Computer lab (10 computers)
  • Quiet study room
  • Tutoring services & private tutoring room
  • Shared kitchenette
  • Cultural & social activities
  • Elder in Residence Program
